Purpose of Position: The purpose of this position is to contribute to the academic excellence and strategic development of the College by delivering high-quality teaching in Human Resource Management across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The role also involves curriculum development, the creation of programme-related materials, and active engagement in the continuous development of the College. In addition, the position supports the College's broader mission by fostering strong relationships with professional bodies, ensuring alignment between academic programmes and industry standards. The successful candidate will also contribute to alignment with professional accreditation frameworks such as CIPD. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the College's reputation and supporting its ongoing growth and development. Reporting to: Dean of Business and Social Sciences Key Relationships: Dean of School of Business and Social Sciences Vice Deans of Business and Social Sciences Faculty and Associate Faculty in the School Students both full and part-time Professional Bodies Academic Operations Team Student Services Team Key Responsibilities: Teaching, Learning and Assessment Responsibilities Deliver high-quality teaching in Human Resource Management across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the School of Business and Social Sciences. Design, prepare, and deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops, and other learning activities in line with institutional policies and quality standards. Provide timely and constructive formative and summative feedback to students. Supervise student research projects and dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Support and supervise students on work placements and internships. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders. Engage in continuous professional development to maintain subject expertise and pedagogical effectiveness. Participate in academic committees, programme boards, and quality assurance processes. Liaise with the library and other support services to ensure appropriate learning resources are available. Innovate in teaching practice through the use of digital tools, blended learning, and inclusive pedagogies. Monitor student engagement with learning and action appropriate responses within the design of the programme. Monitor academic integrity within programmes of learning and action where infringement may be a risk. Programme Development Contribute to the design, development, and review of new and existing programmes, ensuring alignment with academic standards and industry needs. Prepare programme documentation for validation, accreditation processes and other process. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure curriculum relevance and responsiveness to emerging trends in education. Research and Scholarship Undertake scholarly and/or applied research that contributes to the academic profile of the School and informs teaching practice. Disseminate research appropriately Seek external funding to support research initiatives and collaborative projects. Develop a personal research agenda aligned with the strategic priorities of the College. Engagement with Professional and External Bodies Maintain and develop relationships with professional bodies to support accreditation, exemptions, and professional alignment of programmes. Collaborate with the Careers Team to support student employability, including placements, internships, and graduate opportunities. Represent the College in professional networks, industry forums, and academic partnerships. Academic Leadership and Administration Contribute to the strategic development of the School of Business and Social Sciences through active participation in planning and review processes. Act as Programme Director for designated undergraduate or postgraduate programmes, in consultation with the Dean. Provide academic advising and pastoral support to students, including acting as a personal tutor. Participate in College-wide events such as open days, recruitment fairs, and outreach activities. Contribute to short courses, executive education, and consultancy projects as required. Demonstrate leadership skills relevant to the role. Any other duties as required by the College. Qualifications & Experience Required: Masters degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent CIPD qualified and a member of CIPD at Chartered Member or Chartered Fellowship level Professional experience in human resource management Demonstrated experience in lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including curriculum delivery, assessment, and student support Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Commitment to continuous professional development and engagement with the wider academic and professional community. A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Qualifications & Experience - Desirable A PhD in a related and relevant field or working towards one . A developing or established research profile. Experience supervising students at Master's level (taught or research) HR Analytics & Digital innovation focus Familiarity with professional accreditation processes and engagement with professional bodies (e.g., for exemptions or curriculum alignment). Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in virtual learning environments (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard) and educational technologies. Salary: Academic II - €53,836 - €82.374 The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
