The Chief Risk Officer (PCF‑14) will lead RiverStone International Ireland DAC’s risk management function and ensure robust governance across the organization. This senior leadership role safeguards the Company’s resilience and compliance in a dynamic regulatory environment and requires collaboration with cross‑functional teams, providing strategic input based on business needs.
Responsibilities
Risk Management
To ensure an effective risk management framework is in place at all times, across all RIIDAC portfolios, and is operating as intended, complying with all regulatory and other requirements.
- Responsible for the risk management function and for maintaining and monitoring the effectiveness of RIIDAC’s risk management system.
- Responsible for ensuring that RIIDAC has effective processes in place to identify and manage the risks to which RIIDAC is or might be exposed.
- Responsible for maintaining effective processes to monitor and report the risks to which RIIDAC is or might be exposed.
- Ensuring all risks that are identified will have a corresponding control designed to mitigate the risk in whole or in part and the effectiveness of this control is also assessed.
- To ensure that appropriate risk and control registers are maintained at all times.
- Ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of the Company’s risk management policies and procedures relating to RIIDAC's activities, processes and systems.
- Responsible for promoting sound and effective risk management. The system of risk management shall promote an appropriate risk culture at all levels of RIIDAC and shall be subject to regular internal review.
- Responsible for the facilitation of the setting of the risk appetite by the Board.
- To ensure Risk Appetites and tolerances are in place at all times and are appropriately monitored.
- Responsible for providing comprehensive and timely information on RIIDAC’s material risks to enable the Board to understand the overall risk profile of RIIDAC.
- Responsible for managing financial risks from climate change.
- Responsible for reporting to the Board Risk Committee periodically, with direct access to the Chair of the Board Risk Committee.
- Responsible for managing the internal stress-tests and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of information provided to the CBI for the purposes of stress‑testing.
- To ensure appropriate reporting and MI is provided to oversight bodies, including the RIIDAC Executive Committee.
- To ensure risk is embedded across RIIDAC, ensuring staff have an appropriate awareness of the role they should play in managing risk and ensuring risk is considered in key decisions.
- To ensure a consistency of approach with other Group entities / liaising effectively with other Group entities.
- Working with the Head of Group Operations to ensure an appropriate Business Continuity Plan and Operational Resilience Framework is in place at all times.
- To ensure Pre‑emptive Recovery Plan is in place at all times.
- To ensure the Risk Management Framework is compliant with current and future regulatory requirements and reflects the needs of RIIDAC.
- To ensure an appropriate emerging risk framework is in place.
Own Risk and Solvency Assessments “ORSAs”
To lead on the production of RIIDAC’s annual ORSA and any ad hoc ORSA’s as required.
- Responsible for implementing the ORSA process and ensuring the production of all ORSAs, both annual and ad hoc, to an appropriate standard and on a timely basis.
- Ensure all ORSA feedback from the CBI and any other stakeholders is addressed.
- Ensure an acquisition ORSA is produced for acquisitions as required in accordance with the Acquisitions Authority Schedule.
Acquisition and integration support
To support the business in M&A transactions.
- To support the business in acquisition due diligence support on new transactions by preparing acquisition risk memo’s and support the business in integrating new acquisition.
- To ensure new portfolios are appropriately integrated into RIIDAC’s Risk Management Framework.
Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, or a related field (Master’s or professional qualification such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent is an advantage).
- Strong understanding of Solvency II and Central Bank of Ireland regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record in senior risk management roles within insurance or financial services.
- Experience leading ORSA processes and managing enterprise risk frameworks.
- Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, including risk assessment and integration planning.
- Deep knowledge of Irish and EU regulatory frameworks, including governance and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with risk modelling, capital adequacy, and stress testing methodologies.
- Ability to influence at Board and Executive level, providing clear risk insights and recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including collaboration with regulators and internal teams.
- Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- High integrity and sound judgment in decision‑making.
