What is the role? This role reflects the increasing importance of sustainability as the business grows. The role is responsible for developing ESG policy and implementing strategies through the ESG Council, as well as ensuring compliance with ESG regulations and reporting requirements.
What are the key responsibilities? ESG Council: Co-ordinate the plans and activities of Aerogen’s ESG Council, ensuring workstreams actively pursue the annual ESG plan.
Consolidate workstream updates for ESG Council and onward communication.
Facilitate the development of ESG strategy through the ESG Council.
Implement Sustainability Strategy: Develop, implement and monitor sustainability policies, programmes and initiatives that align with Aerogen’s ESG Strategy, Vision, Mission and Values.
Conduct sustainability assessment, identify material issues, set goals and targets, and develop action plans and indicators.
Establish ESG operating framework, incorporating ESG awareness and decision making into all aspects of the business.
Using Materiality Analysis coordinate Aerogen’s ESG Risk Assessment.
Coordinate Lifecycle Assessments for determination of carbon equivalents for Aerogen products.
Using Science Based decision making, coordinate development of short, medium and long-term Carbon Reduction Goals.
Engage employees on reduction of Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions.
Develop methods for sharing ESG knowledge across the company, especially with Commercial teams who interact with customers.
Sustainable Innovation: Coordinate Aerogen’s engagement with Ireland’s Health Service under the EI grant funded Sustainable Medical Device project to develop and pilot sustainable packaging, transport and end-of-life disposal.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders (employees, customers, suppliers, board, regulators, communities); understand needs and communicate performance and challenges; foster collaboration and feedback for continuous improvement; represent Aerogen in sustainability networks, forums and events.
ESG Reporting: Prepare and publish regular sustainability reports; collect, analyse and verify data; follow best practices (GRI Standards, Integrated Reporting, SASB); respond to external requests; prepare ESG communications and standard responses to common enquiries.
ESG Compliance: Develop policies, procedures, KPIs and reporting to ensure compliance with ESG regulations and national laws (e.g., CSRD, CSDDD); lead annual disclosures under the UN Global Compact.
ESG Education: Build and deliver programmes to educate employees and leaders on sustainability; coordinate training in ESG topics (Lifecycle Assessment, Sustainable Design, Circular Economy, Human Rights in the Supply Chain).
What education and experience are required? Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science or Business; postgraduate qualification in Sustainability is desirable.
Minimum 8 years of industrial or business experience.
Minimum 3 years in an ESG role with responsibility for establishing sustainability policy.
Experience coordinating ESG initiatives and projects with cross-functional teams.
Experience establishing an ESG operating framework and achieving independent accreditation.
Experience in an industrial environment is preferred.
