About the role
What you need to know:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Portfolio & Underwriting Analyst to join the Personal Motor team.
In this role you will:
- Report to the Head of Motor insurance to establish and track the key financial and operational drivers of economic value across all motor products.
- Provide insight and communicate key performance metrics to all aspects of the business both monthly and quarterly. (I.e. conversion statistics, retention, business mix changes, claims trends).
- Track effectiveness of product change strategies to ensure that sales, growth, and profitability objectives are achieved.
- Liaise with the actuarial pricing team to produce rate change analysis to ensure the smooth deployment of rate adjustments across all motor products.
- Maximise the use of telematics data by generating valuable insights which will help drive growth and profitability across several telematics programs.
- Monitor the effectiveness of underwriting action plans with actual to expected result measurement communicated to underwriting team regularly.
- Work with the motor underwriting team to enrich data feeds to ensure more effective risk underwriting on both new and renewing business.
- Consult with the Head of Motor and underwriting team in preparing and producing materials required for monthly product & pricing sessions with external partners.
- Produce concise, informative and holistic internal management reports monthly.
- Support the business with financial budget creation, providing granularity and updating quarterly estimate process.
- Identify, distribute and implement best practices for Portfolio Management tools, process and techniques.
- Ensure business line adherence to all policies, guidelines and procedures.
What we’re looking for:’
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in either underwriting, actuarial or analytics functions.
- Previous experience working with business intelligence tools desirable but not essential.
- Strong analytical, financial, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop systems for achieving them.
- Strong communication (oral and written) and influencing skills and demonstrated ability. to work across teams.
- Ability to work independently, challenge status quo and promote new solutions.
- Strong ability to work with different sources of information and large volumes of data.
