RTÉ Technology Internship 2025

Dublin, Ireland Raidió Teilifís Éireann Full time

RTÉ’s Technology Internship is an opportunity to learn and contribute to the technological transformation of Ireland’s national broadcaster.

Every week, RTÉ has 2.8 million viewers and 2 million listeners with 8.4 million users joining us monthly online. To continue delivering relevant and high-quality stories, news, information and entertainment to the Irish public, we are planning for a large-scale transformation across the organisation as set out in the New Direction strategy.

As our 2025 Technology Intern, you will work with the Chief Technology Officer, the Technical Architect and other leaders to help develop the new technology roadmap for RTÉ and work on strategic initiatives. You will have the opportunity to work with the Technology team and others across the organisation, and to attend meetings and workshops with internal stakeholders, other broadcasters and relevant technology vendors.

Who we’re looking for?

We want to hear from people who can think strategically, who like to question processes and how things work, with a passion for technology and getting the most out of it. We are looking for dedication, drive and potential. You might not have specific technology or media experience, but an interest in technology and some understanding of how it might work in a creative organisation would be a bonus. We are looking for someone who is not afraid to ask why things are done the way they are, with a strategic and analytical mindset and creative outlook to find a better way.

The skills and qualities you’ll have:

1. Teamwork
2. Communication
3. Curiosity
4. Research & analysis

What do we offer?

This paid internship offers a 6-month fixed-term contract with RTÉ and a salary of €30,113 per annum pro rata (€15,056 for the 6-month contract). Throughout your internship, an RTÉ mentor will provide regular support for your professional development.

If you are successful, you will receive three weeks of bespoke training followed by a five-month internship. You will receive training on all aspects of creating and delivering content followed by specialist training with the Technology team to prepare you for your role. We will provide training, support and mentoring throughout your placement.

Diversity and Inclusion are at the heart of what we do – both on-screen and behind the scenes. We are committed to building a more inclusive environment and tackling under-representation while embedding inclusion at every stage of the employee journey. We encourage applications from people from all communities and backgrounds.

We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds, without regard to gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, social experience, race and ethnicity, disability, civil and family status, religious belief and membership of the Traveller Community.

Application process

Fill out the application form to tell us about yourself and showcase your creativity. No CV or cover letter is required. Your application will allow you to be considered for the Technology internship.

The deadline for all internship applications is midnight on Sunday 16th February 2025. Assessments for all opportunities will take place in person, in Dublin on Monday, 31st March 2025. A brief online follow up chat will take place on Tuesday 1st April 2025. Unfortunately, there will be no alternative dates.

Support with your application and assessment

We are eager to provide reasonable support for potential employees with any kind of disability. Should you wish to request an accommodation for your application, assessment and interview, we encourage you to let us know as soon as possible.

Please note:

- The internship starts on Monday 12th May and ends on Friday 7th November 2025.
- Training for all interns takes place in Dublin during office hours from 12th May to 30th May 2025. The training is an integral and mandatory part of the internship.
- English-language interns will work in-person, on-site, in Dublin for the duration of the internship.
- Work placement hours will be determined by each department. Flexibility is crucial as evening and weekend work may be required, as well as occasional travel.
- Dates are fixed, you must be able to devote all your time and attention to this internship. It will not be suitable for those in full-time education.
