Head of Sales DHL Global Forwarding (Ireland) Limited (DGF IE)
Location:Flexible: Dublin, Shannon
Scope of Role
Our growth over the past number of years is based on our success in developing and growing strong niche sectors while fostering and embracing a strong customer centric culture across our organization. The successful candidate will be a member of the Senior Management Team and will have responsibility to build on this success, while engaging and aligning with our CEO and each of the Product Heads to develop, communicate and deliver on a clear Business Development Strategy for DGF IE.
Our Business Development team is made up of Operational & Key Account Owners, Product Subject Matter Experts, Product Route Development Managers, Sales Support teams. While not a traditional Sales Function, the responsibility of the Head of Business Development will to be to bring these Commercial Functions together, ensuring a co-ordinated and cohesive approach to our Business Development Strategy. In addition, the role will have 4 direct reports, and a team of dotted line reports to support.
Days & Hours of Work
Mon – Fri: 09.00 – 17.30, or such hours as are deemed necessary to fulfill the requirements of the role, and meet the needs of the business
Accountabilities
Key Accountabilities

- Ability to network and build relationships at a strategic level both internally and externally, with the ability to penetrate large multinational organizations at board level
- Promote DGF IE capabilities and develop meaningful relationships across the DGF global network, identifying opportunities for DGF IE growth.
- Identify a number of customers within our existing Tech & Pharma Verticals, developing Strategic Account Plans, along with reviewing other Vertical Sectors which to date, we have not penetrated i.e. Aerospace, Automotive, Consumer & Retail.
- Review and target specific trade lanes.
- Recognize and leverage from the potential value of the RCC (Regional Customer Centre) to the DGF IE business growth strategy.
- Develop a growth strategy leveraging from the skillsets in the wider organization to convert opportunities
- Ensure a clear focus on communication, team building, employee engagement and development.
- Fully responsible for Sales Support and adherence to all Regional & Global initiatives.
- Recognize and embrace the importance of Digitalization and Sustainability as a differential advantage.
- Participate in the implementation of operational processes and perform work to the standards of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) for Life Science business, as required.
- Ensure operational compliance to all revenue and international trade legislative requirements, and all requirements under data protection legislation in addition to all DGF IE policies and procedures (H&S, Quality, Environmental, HR, etc), and work in a manner that supports the Company sustainability programme

Skills / Qualifications:
Expected Experience

- Proven track record in similar role at senior level
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of Freight Forwarding industry
- Experience of operating in a fast-paced dynamic organization
