Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the incumbent will work in partnership with their peers to ensure Best-in-Class performance on behalf of CEL and our customers. The role will be directly responsible for providing effective and efficient management for the end-to-end purchasing cycle across all CEL locations for all customer projects.

The role will require strong leadership in purchasing optimisation, supplier collaboration, team development, process and systems improvement. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, planning and communication skills coupled with a detailed knowledge of purchasing systems and an ability to achieve ‘best value’ on behalf of CEL.

Key Responsibilities:

- Detailed management of the full procurement cycle covering all direct and indirect materials to support the business with an emphasis on strong cashflow performance.
- Employ a specific focus on the end-to-end management of the metal’s procurement cycle for the business, including development of a strategic purchasing strategy for our copper components.
- Ensure robust business process to manage and maintain international trade compliance with origin rules.
- Ensure all product materials are sourced and delivered to meet production requirements on-time-in-full.
- Liaise closely with the Warehouse Manager to ensure active and safety stock levels, re-order quantities etc are maintained at their optimal levels.
- Represent the purchasing function in the SIOPs process utilising the information outputs to collaborate with our suppliers to improve purchasing efficiencies.
- Management of product delivery process from CEL to all customers and location.
- Ensure ERP functionality is embedded into the core of the purchasing team, identify areas for improvement and organise training as required to reduce the requirement for manual interventions.
- Oversight of the procurement cycle for our external sub-contractor manufacturing partners.
- Explore all options and strategies to ensure supply at optimal terms i.e. pricing, lead times and flexibility.
- Identify appropriate training programs and work to develop and mentor your team to meet our strategy.
- Establish an effective supply risk management process and advise on key business decisions to site leadership.
- Create and report relevant purchasing KPI’s.
- Enact an external supplier audit/qualification program.
- Act as the company representative during external audits / visits, either customer or regulatory.
- Drive behavioural change, implementing companywide performance improvement programs and practices.
- Provide day-to-day operational support on a proactive basis on all purchasing matters.

Experience/Skills Required:

- Degree educated with extensive experience at management level.
- Proven experience in managing large scale purchasing processes within a similar manufacturing industry.
- Strong negotiation, communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work independently and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to drive cost-saving initiatives.
- Demonstrated organizational, leadership, communication and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach and adept at identifying and solving issues.
- Strong knowledge in ERP and purchasing process optimisation.
- Ability and willingness to travel regionally.
- Possess a high level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability.
