Senior Occupational Therapist Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate occupational therapist to join our inpatient service in Mullingar. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing quality of life and independence for older adults through specialist OT assessment and intervention.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled therapist with a passion for supporting older adults with complex mental health needs, including dementia-related conditions and long-term psychiatric difficulties.

The role involves delivering comprehensive OT assessments focusing on function, cognition, and daily living skills, designing and implementing compensatory strategies to support autonomy and engagement in meaningful activities, and providing specialist seating and positioning assessments for clients with complex physical and cognitive needs.

  • Delivering individual and group programmes within the inpatient setting.
  • Leading on discharge planning in close collaboration with the Community Later Life Psychiatry OT team.
  • Contributing to service development, clinical audit, and best practice initiatives.

Requirements include a BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy, CORU Registration, and a strong clinical interest in older adult mental health and dementia care.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, recovery-oriented, and person-centred professional with excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
