Estimator Job Opportunity

A leading mechanical contractor seeks an experienced Estimator to join their expanding team.

  • Prepare detailed tenders and cost estimates for various projects, quantifying material, plant, and labour requirements specific to project needs.
  • Oversee the handover of final estimates to the project management team, conducting periodic reviews of work practices to identify cost-saving measures.
  • Develop and manage project procurement schedules, collaborating with project managers to monitor costs and assess ongoing project requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years' experience in surveying with a main building services contractor, familiarity with tendering within the HVAC industry or similar sectors, and strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and verify subcontractor quotations, checking for inclusions and exclusions, and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Issue tender queries, prepare tender reports, and organise pre-project information, developing and managing project procurement schedules.

Eligibility Criteria/ Qualifications and/or Experience:

  • Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail, flexibility to travel to various sites throughout the country as required.
  • Familiarity with building regulations and legal guidelines is strongly preferred, along with experience working autonomously or as part of a team.
  • Capability to work within tight deadlines and budgets, with knowledge of project pricing and strong negotiation skills.
