Design Solutions Specialist

The Applications Engineering Department is responsible for designing, developing and commercializing innovative solutions for global markets. This full-time position within our clients Applications Engineering Team requires a self-motivated individual that can identify new application opportunities and conceptualize new ways to solve problems for customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop fastening solutions for new and existing customers by designing, improving and implementing effective solutions.
  • Support sales activities with technical calls and visits as required, building strong relationships with key customers.
  • Coordinate testing required for prototypes, pilot production and final customer acceptance, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Lead development activities within the business, including Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Sales & Marketing, Finance and Installation equipment department, facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
  • Generate accurate manufacturing costs and submit to pricing coordinator for review.
  • Provide exceptional technical support to customers/distributors and Regional Sales Managers, addressing their queries and concerns.
  • Conduct training sessions with new and key distributors and customers, enhancing their skills and knowledge.

This role demands excellent written and verbal communication skills to interpret and communicate data effectively. The ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications is essential. Flexibility in schedule to allow for travel is mandatory.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Third-level degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of engineering experience, preferably in Application Engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of working in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Solid Modelling software (Pro/E preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with engineering tools such as SPC and Finite Element Analysis, desirable.
  • Business software experience, particularly ERP systems (JDE preferred).
