Job Title: Specialist Medical Scientist in Microbiology

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Medical Scientist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about microbiology and wants to make a real difference in the field.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct surveillance data analysis in Microbiology, Serology, and Virology.
  • Deputise for the Chief Medical Scientist during periods of absence.
  • Collate and disseminate antimicrobial resistance data to stakeholders.
  • Aid laboratory developments to improve surveillance of antimicrobial resistance.
  • Maintain databases for monitoring resistant organisms.
  • Contribute to early recognition and management of infection outbreaks.

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in local and national initiatives for healthcare-associated infections surveillance.
  • Assist in disease notification to public health departments.
  • Extract data for Freedom of Information requests and patient inquiries.
  • Participate in laboratory committees and contribute to education initiatives.
  • Engage in molecular research and development projects.
