Assistant Manager Position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Manager to join our team in a retail store located in a rural village with one shop in the town. As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for running the store top to bottom in terms of people management, maintaining shop standards, commercial control, and contributing to the development of the business.


The successful candidate will have 2+ years of retail management experience, preferably in a fresh food environment. They should also possess strong leadership skills, be able to motivate and lead a team, and have excellent organizational and time management skills.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the manager in achieving sales and profit targets
  • Providing high-level customer service
  • Maintaining store staff by recruiting, selecting, and training new staff, in conjunction with the HR department
  • Managing stock and cash control procedures and investigating variances
  • Being creative and innovative by studying and implementing advertising, sales promotion, and display plans

Requirements
  • 2+ years of retail management experience, ideally within an environment with fresh foods
  • Some experience using Retail IT systems to understand stock and sales trends
  • People skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a high level of confidence
  • A strong work ethic
