Job Overview:

Your role as a Mechanical Chargehand entails leading a team of mechanical operatives on-site, ensuring all installations meet quality standards and are completed efficiently and safely.

You will act as a liaison between the workforce and site management, supporting project delivery.

  • Coordinate and supervise mechanical operatives
  • Ensure daily tasks align with project schedules and quality standards
  • Interpret technical drawings to guide installation works
  • Maintain health & safety compliance on-site
  • Assist with mechanical installation as required
  • Report progress, issues, and resource needs to site management
  • Support the development of junior operatives
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in large-scale construction projects as a Mechanical Chargehand/Foreperson or senior engineer
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and pipework
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Valid CSR or equivalent site safety card
  • NVQ Level 3 Plumbing/Heating qualification or equivalent
  • Ambition to progress into a management role
  • Fully qualified UK driver
