Job Role

The shipping coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of customer orders and third-party logistics shipments. The position is based in Shannon, Co Clare, and reports directly to a manager.

  • Book shipments in advance with the correct forwarding agents.
  • Pack shipments adequately to prevent damage during transit, using the correct pallet type for relevant destinations and additional packing requirements such as banding and strapping.
  • Liaise with customer service and logistics to resolve issues related to upcoming shipments.
  • Communicate and liaise with IT and finance to resolve issues with the current enterprise resource planning system and commercial shipments respectively.
  • Oversee adherence to dangerous goods procedure when shipping hazardous goods.
  • Submit shipment details and paperwork for customer orders to the relevant logistics agent in a timely fashion.
  • Load shipments on to trailers/containers in a secure and safe manner.
  • Record relevant cargo details where necessary, such as seal number and nominated agent acting on behalf of freight forwarder.

Occasional extended hours may be required to meet shipping deadlines. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing special projects and assignments as requested by the manager.

  • Achieve over 98% on-time in full performance.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement processes.
  • Internal and external audits.
  • Adherence and implementation of environmental health and safety systems.
  • Continuous improvements for enterprise resource planning processes and documentation.
Requirements
  • At least three years experience in supply chain, logistics, shipping or similar field.
  • Recognized qualification in logistics or shipping desirable.
  • Health and safety experience or qualification desired.
  • Forklift driving experience.
  • Significant experience using material requirements planning/enterprise resource planning systems.
  • IATA certification in shipping hazardous goods or similar qualification/experience desirable.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
