Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bridge Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for the development of innovative, cost-effective solutions that maximize value for our clients and learning opportunities for our people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new bridge and civil structures across a range of materials and forms, including superstructure, substructure, and articulation elements.
  • Participate in early project stages, including scoping, surveys, inspection, and investigative works, optioneering, and scheme design.
  • Undertake detailed design work, including modeling, calculations, and drawing production oversight.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Undertake independent design checking and provide construction stage support.
  • Interface with clients from local and national authorities, consultants, and design-build contractors.

Essential Requirements

  • Hold or will shortly achieve the title of Chartered Engineer (CEng) with Engineers Ireland, ICE, IStructE, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years' relevant professional bridge design experience in the civil or structural engineering sector.
  • Flexible, motivated, and focused individual with excellent communication skills.
  • Good technical knowledge and engineering understanding of bridges.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in written and in-person interaction with external parties.
  • Good knowledge of structural analysis software, including finite element analysis.
  • Good knowledge of and experience in the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and other standards, including Eurocodes.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment with tight deadlines.
  • Fluent or highly proficient in spoken and written English.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Multidisciplinary consultancy or contracting experience from allied civil engineering disciplines, such as highways, structures, geotechnics, rail, or water.
