About This Role

Compassionate care and support are essential for individuals with mental health conditions. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional resident care.

You will be responsible for creating comprehensive care plans, promoting independence and skill development among residents.

  • Experience working within a mental health environment is crucial for this position.
  • Good working knowledge of The Mental Health Order (1986) is required.
  • Understanding current approaches to mental health practice is vital.
  • Able to collaborate with challenging resident groups positively.
  • Care plans must be comprehensive and understandable by residents.
  • Accurately maintain documentation manually and electronically.
  • Ensure house rules are kept and adhered to, providing a safe environment.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and visitors.
  • Assist residents with booking and attending appointments.
  • Support residents in daily tasks: self-care, shopping, and household tasks.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Understanding current approaches to mental health practice.
  • Awareness of local services available to those with mental health needs.
  • Knowledge of types of mental health illnesses and the level of care residents will require.
  • A caring, empathetic, and compassionate nature.
  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Experience working within a Care Home setting or environment.
