Accounting Assistant Position

This is an opportunity to work in a financial role within a hotel environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and be able to assist in the day-to-day operation of the hotel's finances.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with department heads to source products and authorise purchase orders in line with budget.
  • Assist head of departments with their stores, managing par stock levels and maintaining open communication to ensure costs are in line with budget.
  • Maintain good relationships with suppliers.
  • Regularly check prices to ensure best and most competitive prices are secured.
  • Check goods received against orders, reconcile quantities and quality.
  • Report discrepancies to suppliers, follow up on replacements or credit notes.
  • Input invoices to accounts system and reconcile supplier statements.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly payments for authorisation.
  • Reconcile and post weekly Petty Cash dockets.
  • Record and file paperwork accurately, and distribute received goods to correct departments.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1-2 years' experience working in an accounts department, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Possess a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Familiarity with hotel systems including Hotsoft, Volante and accounting software Quick Books would be advantageous but not essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all financial tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. They will also be required to maintain accurate records and provide excellent customer service.
