Job Title: Senior Automation Engineer

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced automation professional to join our team as a Senior Automation Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to work on site-wide automation projects with a global pharmaceutical leader based in Dublin. Our client is supporting ongoing and future site-wide automation projects, with a strong pipeline of control system migrations and upcoming automation initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing control system upgrades, representing the company across the project lifecycle, and supervising vendor-led activities. The initial focus will be full-time onsite to embed within the team and gain a clear understanding of the operations, but there will also be potential for hybrid working once established in the role.

This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge engineering solutions and deliver high-impact projects that make a real difference. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Engineering, Automation, or a relevant discipline, and at least 5 years' experience in an automation-focused role within pharmaceutical or highly regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support multiple ongoing control system migrations (primarily Rockwell; some Siemens and Schneider)
  • Supervise automation vendor activities across FES, quotation, project execution, FAT, commissioning, and SAT
  • Work closely with the site team to validate and sign off each stage of the migration and project delivery process
  • Contribute to wider VPE (Vaccines, Pharmaceutical, Enzymes) automation projects, including skids and panel upgrades (e.g., S7-1500 & WinCC)

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Automation, or a relevant discipline
  • At least 5 years' experience in an automation-focused role within pharmaceutical or highly regulated industries
  • Familiar with Rockwell (RSLogix/Studio 5000), Siemens S7, and Schneider control platforms
  • Proven experience in system migrations and project supervision
  • Strong communication and vendor management skills
