Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of experience working with civil contractors, with a strong background in cost management and project procurement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the cost management of one or more projects, including project procurement, preparing monthly project payment applications and cost reports, monitoring project costs, and agreeing variations with the design team.

A key aspect of this role is reporting to senior management on the financial performance of individual projects. We require a degree-level qualified Quantity Surveyor who is chartered or working towards chartership.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with previous experience working on civils projects as a main contractor desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Management: Responsible for managing the cost of projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Project Procurement: Coordinating project procurement activities, including issuing tender queries, preparing tender reports, and appointing suppliers.
  • Payment Applications: Preparing and submitting monthly project payment applications and cost reports.
  • Cost Monitoring: Monitoring project costs, identifying areas of inefficiency, and proposing solutions to ensure cost savings.
  • Variation Agreements: Agreeing project variations with the design team, ensuring that changes are properly documented and implemented.
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • 4+ years of experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on civils projects.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous experience working on civils projects as a main contractor (desired).
