Senior Electrical Engineer - High Voltage ExpertJob Description:

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned electrical engineer with expertise in high voltage systems, transmission lines and substations. They will lead diverse projects to develop innovative solutions for power grid stability, security of electricity supply and renewable energy integration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and assess detailed designs to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Lead the review and assessment of high voltage equipment procurement specifications.
  • Develop commissioning and energization instructions, and review as-built documentation.
  • Complete design review checklists and participate in stage gate reviews.
  • Provide technical responses to complex queries from clients and standards authorities.
  • Contribute to contestable specification packs and review plant layouts, station drawings and substation automation systems.
  • Provide engineering input to major power infrastructure development projects through various lifecycle stages.
Requirements:
  • Possess a degree in Electrical Engineering and preferably be or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • Experience working in the power transmission and distribution industry, specifically with Irish TSO/DNO Eirgrid and ESB.
  • Experience relating to design, delivery and supervision of HV substation solutions (33, 110 to 400kV).
  • Experience across all project lifecycles- from development of specifications to handover.
  • Experience in applying regulatory and client-specific health and safety requirements to HV plant system designs.
  • Substation automation, protection and control experience in on- and offshore applications.
  • Extensive experience in owners' engineering of high-voltage substations and grid development projects.
  • Excellent coordination abilities with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in the power and renewable energy sector.
  • Capability to mentor junior engineers.
