We are seeking an experienced physiotherapist to join our team in the Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery service at Galway University Hospitals. As a senior physiotherapist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our service.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing patients with plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgery conditions, including traumatic hand injuries, non-traumatic hand/upper limb disorders, skin grafts/flaps for cancers, skin loss/injury, non-healing wounds & burns, breast reconstruction surgery, etc.

You will be responsible for providing inpatient, outpatient, and clinic cover, including support for daily clinics at Merlin Park Campus. The post also involves student supervision and staff grade mentoring. You will work primarily from both University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital, depending on service needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgery conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments to ensure patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Supervise and mentor students and staff grades to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in evening and weekend on-call services, as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive recent experience managing patients with plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgery conditions.
  • Experience and competence in hand therapy with evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Interprofessional working skills.
  • Awareness of the Health Service reform programmes.
  • Understanding of relevant National Clinical Care Programmes.
