Job Summary:

A challenging role awaits an ambitious individual to take on the responsibilities of a Hull Artificer at sea.

About the Role:

  • Operate and maintain ships, ensuring operational readiness in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and crewing of vessels while upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Undertake tasks related to ship's hull, fittings, and associated systems, ensuring structural integrity and seaworthiness.
  • Maintain optimal operational effectiveness by ensuring ships remain structurally sound.
  • Participate in emergency response situations, including firefighting and damage control duties.

Key Requirements:

  • Citizenship: Must be an Irish citizen or possess the right to work in Ireland.
  • Character & Fitness: Applicants must meet medical, physical, and security clearance standards.
  • Age: Candidates must be between 18 and 39 years old.
  • Qualifications: A Level 7 Bachelor of Science in Craft Technology (Wood) with Business National Craft Certificate in Carpentary and Joinery, National Craft Certificate in Cabinet Making/Wood Manufacturing and Finishing, or National Craft Certificate in Shipwright, or equivalent qualifications approved by Naval Service.

Recruitment Process:

The process includes a fitness test, competency-based interview, medical examination, and Garda vetting.

Location: All assessments are conducted at Naval Base, Haulbowline Island, Cork.

Benefits Package:

  • Basic Salary: €49 per annum, with annual increments.
  • Naval Service Allowance: Approximately €20.
  • Overseas Service Allowance: Starting at €15 per annum, in addition to salary.
