Civils Estimator

Job Description:

Production of estimates for various civil engineering projects involves working closely with designers, project managers, clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers. This role requires a high level of technical knowledge and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of engineering drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Material take-offs to determine quantities and costs.
  • Preparation of sub-contractor and supplier enquiries and contract documents.
  • Liaison with clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Liaison with sub-consultants and in-house engineering design teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Assessment of different options and solutions to optimize project outcomes.
  • Attending pre and post tender meetings/presentations to communicate project requirements and expectations.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
  • Good knowledge of civil engineering contracts, relevant legislation, and standards.
  • 10 years construction management experience.
  • Estimating experience in utilities and infrastructure with a recognised Main Contractor.
  • Ability to work independently and manage inputs from specialist suppliers and in-house staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills.
  • Results-oriented with ability to work under pressure.
  • Good computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, and ideally some experience of planning software and estimating software.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Authorised to work in Ireland.
  • Excellent written and fluent English.
