Electrical Design Leader

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer/Design Manager to lead our design team and drive electrical design excellence.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the scope of works are completed for electrical packages, managing consultant selections and agreeing RACI matrices, attending design team meetings, and aligning design programmes with planning teams.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure technical compliance on all assigned projects by implementing robust design processes and procedures.
  • Manage consultant selections and agree RACI matrices to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Attend design team meetings and ensure design programme alignment with planning teams to facilitate seamless project delivery.
  • Review client responsibility matrices and ensure alignment with project/commercial teams to guarantee mutual understanding.
  • Implement RIBA 3-5 design processes and procedures to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Produce design management plans for projects to provide a clear direction and framework.
  • Ensure Central engineering checklists are implemented on each project to maintain quality standards.
  • Manage design for safe manufacturing assembly if required, prioritizing customer safety and satisfaction.
  • Monitor trackers throughout project lifecycle to track progress and identify potential issues.
  • Assist with workload on assigned projects to ensure efficient allocation of resources.
  • Review orders to ensure best price is obtained, optimizing project profitability.
  • Challenge consultants and Company teams to value engineer, driving cost savings and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO19650 requirements, maintaining industry-leading standards.
  • Produce reports for assigned projects to provide timely and accurate information.
  • Assist with tender preparation and estimating department support to streamline the bidding process.
  • Set up value engineering logs to document and analyze cost-saving initiatives.
  • Perform lessons learned reviews at design stage to identify areas for improvement and implement changes.
  • Coach graduate engineers on tech sub production, drawing management, and client communication, fostering knowledge sharing and development.
