Job Description:

This is a permanent role for a Medical Scientist in the NHISSOT department. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining department accreditation with the European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI).

  • Perform routine and emergency assays in the Antibody Screening Section.
  • Maintain and monitor the antibody status of all patients on the waiting lists and post-transplant patients.
  • Perform HLA typing by SSO or SSP as appropriate in the Molecular Section.
  • Conduct HLA A, B, DR, DQ typing by CDC serological methods and crossmatching both auto and donor by CDC and Flow Cytometry in the Serology Section.
  • Log and receive all samples for typing and screening in the laboratory and separate and log HLA antibody screening samples.
Requirements:

Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Science from GMIT or an equivalent qualification validated by ACSLM and/or CORU Registered.

Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
