Job Opportunity: Environmental Hydrologist

We are seeking a skilled and motivated professional to fill the role of Environmental Hydrologist.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to play a key role in the assessment, management, and modelling of surface water and groundwater systems in support of infrastructure, environmental, and development projects across Ireland.

  • Key responsibilities include conducting hydrological and hydrogeological assessments for environmental impact assessments (EIAs), flood risk assessments (FRAs), and water resource projects.
  • The successful candidate will develop and calibrate hydrological models using tools such as HEC-HMS, SWMM, Infoworks ICM, or MIKE SHE.
  • Responsibilities also include analyzing rainfall-runoff data, groundwater levels, and flow monitoring data.
  • Candidates should have strong analytical skills and be able to support climate resilience planning and nature-based solutions through hydrological input.
  • Effective communication skills are essential, with the ability to liaise with project teams including engineers, planners, ecologists, and other environmental professionals.
  • Preparation of technical reports, planning documentation, and client presentations is also required.
Requirements:

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in hydrological and hydrogeological assessments.
  • Strong understanding of hydrological models and their application.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional certification in a related discipline.
  • Experience working on similar projects in Ireland or elsewhere.
