Strategic Regulatory Expert

About the Job

Electric Ireland, a leading energy supplier in Ireland, seeks a Senior Regulation Specialist to manage the forward-looking strategic energy regulatory environment. The successful candidate will provide expert interpretation on market and policy regulations, assessing impacts and opportunities created.

  • Review regulatory consultations and assess their impact on the business.
  • Coordinate the development of energy policy positions for ESB Customer Solutions, including Electric Ireland.
  • Develop policy and response papers.
  • Support the implementation of regulatory rules through strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at industry fora and discuss changes that meet the needs of the policy owner and the business.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance within the organization.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A third-level qualification or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum 7 years' experience in the energy or wider utilities industry, preferably with previous experience interacting with Regulatory Authorities and representing at industry fora.
  • An appreciation of the regulatory environment and markets, as well as a good understanding of government and European energy policy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including drafting of response documents to Regulatory Authorities, industry bodies, Government Departments etc.
  • Excellent analytical capability, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to form relationships at all levels and have strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
