
Senior Financial Operations Specialist

This is a pivotal role within the organization, overseeing financial operations and driving strategic decision-making. The Commercial Finance Manager will be responsible for managing financial reports, forecasting, budgeting, and providing analytical insights to inform business decisions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in management accounting, financial reporting, and forecasting, with experience in the construction industry. They will possess advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build, automate, and refine reports and financial models. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and collaboration skills are essential for this role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and maintaining monthly board operations packs, including commentary on variances and key events.
- Automating and evolving reporting inputs through collaboration with departments.
- Managing the Fixed Asset Register and overseeing capital expenditure linked to expansion plans.
- Completing month-end close for the entity ahead of Group consolidation.
- Building, refining, and maintaining Solver reports to support forecasting and strategic planning.
- Analysing the impact of design or construction method changes on site costs and reporting findings.
- Monitoring and reporting on sales pricing movements.
- Partnering with Group Finance to deliver accurate cost variance reporting, identify efficiencies, and drive performance to budget/forecast.
- Supporting audits, providing ad hoc analysis, and assisting the Operations Director/Head of Finance with additional projects as needed.
Required qualifications include:
- Fully qualified accountant with strong technical knowledge.
- Solid experience in management accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, ideally within construction or a related industry.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build, automate, and refine reports and financial models; experience with Solver or similar systems an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, explain variances, and link results to operational performance.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to partner effectively with teams.
