Cost Engineer - Mechanical Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Cost Engineer to join our team as a Mechanical Estimator. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates in a timely manner.

  • You will conduct in-depth reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Performance of accurate quantity take-offs and marking up measured drawings is essential.
  • You will request, manage, and evaluate supplier and sub-contractor quotations.
  • Issuing tender queries and RFIs is a key responsibility.
  • You will prepare costed bill of quantities.
  • Tender reports, tender pricing schedules, and other tender return documents require your attention to detail.
  • You will advise on potential value engineering opportunities.
  • Management of database and attending meetings and site visits as required.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mechanical, Process, Building Services Engineering or related field is essential.
  • Previous mechanical cost estimating or design experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in the use of MS Office, are necessary.
  • You must have a strong understanding of mechanical & process pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical building services systems.
  • A good knowledge of different mechanical & process pipework materials is required.
  • You should have strong attention to detail.
  • Able to interpret drawings and specifications, perform accurate take-offs, and prepare detailed BOQs.
  • You should be able to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
  • Able to display excellent time management, communication, numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
