Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process a high volume of supplier invoices, ensuring they are correctly coded and authorised.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery dockets.
  • Prepare and process weekly/monthly payment runs via electronic funds transfer.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all supplier account queries.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Generate customer invoices and issue monthly statements.
  • Allocate incoming payments to customer accounts accurately.
  • Manage the credit control process, including proactively contacting customers regarding overdue payments.
  • Maintain the debtors' ledger and resolve customer account queries in a timely manner.
  • Assist with daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Support the Financial Controller with month-end procedures and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of value-added tax returns.
  • Process staff expense claims.
  • Maintain organised and accurate financial records and filing systems.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in an accounting role (e.g., Accounts Assistant/Technician, Accounts Administrator, Bookkeeper).
  • An Accounting Technician qualification or part-qualification would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in the use of accounting software.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
