The role provides exposure to a diverse range of projects, including national road schemes, greenway and active travel as well as major highways design and build schemes.

This is a key step towards a future Director-level position and requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication and organisational abilities, and a proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead design teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects, including client relationships and communications.
  • Mentor and manage junior Project Managers in the Highways and Active Travel Sector.
  • Supervise and guide team members in the Highways and Active Travel Sector.
  • Plan and oversee design work with Engineering Discipline Leads and Technicians.
  • Prepare technical reports and tender documentation.
  • Coordinate with project and wider infrastructure team members.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance procedures and management systems.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, with Chartered Engineer status.
  • A minimum of 15 years post-graduate experience in highways, greenway and active travel schemes delivery.
  • Experience in design and build projects delivery is desirable.
  • Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong experience in client liaison, external stakeholders and sub-consultants.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage project budgets.
  • Energetic and self-motivated professional with excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Capable of working independently and efficiently under minimal supervision.
