Conservation Fisheries Officer

We are seeking a fisheries expert to join our team in Letterkenny. The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting and conserving Ireland's inland fisheries and sea angling resources.
- Patrol lakes, rivers, and estuaries to check for illegal fishing
- Detect and prevent pollution and take samples
- Contribute to habitat improvement schemes and improving fisheries access and infrastructure
- Monitor scientific data and conduct electro-fishing and netting
- Leaving Certificate (Level 5 NFQ) or recognised equivalent
- A full Category B driving licence that is valid in Ireland
- No convictions under the Irish Fisheries Legislation
- Eligible to work in the State
- Fluent English - both in spoken and written English
- Good knowledge of computer skills including MS Office
This role requires you to have strong knowledge of water environments and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders. You must also be physically fit to withstand outdoor working conditions.
The ideal candidate will be proactive and highly motivated to contribute to the conservation of fish stocks and habitats. They will have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
