This role requires a high level of technical expertise and ability to work independently. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining data centre operations, ensuring the smooth running of systems and resolving any issues that may arise.
Key Responsibilities- Complete tasks to specified standards and maintain a high level of quality control
- Be fully aware of sources for technical and procedural guidance, adhering to established protocols and procedures
- Provide hands-on support after instruction from support groups, including:
- Physical reboots of devices
- Checking for hardware failure lights
- Checking for console error messages
- Assist in resolution of physical network faults and hardware problems
- Load/unload tapes or CD media to support recovery of a server
- Conduct regular checks to ensure asset inventory is accurate and up-to-date
- Respond to problems promptly using approved procedures and escalating critical issues as necessary
- Assist to cover colleague leave and other absences, including some out-of-hours on-call work
- Support team members with scripted/documented tasks while coordinating efforts effectively
- Alert the Manager to actual or potential service problems and take corrective action where possible
- Perform ad hoc activities at Team Leader/Manager request and provide assistance with media changes as required
- Excellent technical skills with confidence handling IT hardware and software
- Data centre experience with a proven track record of maintaining data integrity and security
- Full clean driving licence
