Renewable Energy Specialist Role

This role plays a critical part in delivering EIA Reports and Appropriate Assessments for major renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full EIA process for large-scale renewable developments, including EIAR and Natura Impact Statements delivery.
  • Provide expert environmental guidance to support planning activities and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in environmental policy contributing to internal strategy submissions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support effective communication and consultation with local communities and statutory bodies.
  • Prepare and manage specifications for third-party services and assist in procurement processes.
  • Ensure all activities align with health, safety, and environmental policies as well as national and EU legislation.
  • Mentor junior team members in areas related to EIA and Appropriate Assessment.
  • Contribute to performance management initiatives across the planning function.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Honours Degree (Level 8) in Environmental Science or a related field is essential.
  • Postgraduate qualification (Level 9) in a relevant discipline is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience leading EIAR and AA/NIS preparation for large-scale development projects.
  • Proven track record managing multidisciplinary teams in EIA documentation delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish planning law, environmental legislation, and EIA policy.
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector or SID projects is advantageous.
  • Technical expertise in an EIA discipline (e.g., ecology, noise, air quality) is beneficial.
