Senior Structural Engineer Job Overview

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Douglas, Cork. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural design and project management, with excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design building structures using reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, proprietary roofing and cladding products, composite floors
  • Design alterations and modifications to building structures
  • Design foundations, pile caps, retaining structures
  • Specify and review site investigations
  • Prepare sketches to illustrate designs
  • Write technical reports
  • Review and check completeness and accuracy of tender and construction drawings
  • Inspect construction works and prepare site reports
  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum Level 8 Degree in Structural Engineering
  • A minimum 5 years relevant experience of Structural Design
  • A minimum 3 years' experience of taking a lead design role on projects
  • Chartered Engineer or nearing Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable
  • Relevant experience ideally includes designing building structures, altering and modifying building structures, designing foundations, specifying and reviewing site investigations, preparing sketches, writing technical reports, reviewing and checking completeness and accuracy of tender and construction drawings, inspecting construction works, coordinating designs with other disciplines
