
Medical Data Custodian

This is a hands-on position that requires significant physical activity, involving the lifting and movement of patient charts and files across various departments in the Healthcare sector.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar capacity, be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent communication skills.
The successful applicant will be responsible for physically handling and storing patient charts and files, ensuring they are accurately filed in numerical order within the department, and maintaining confidentiality and protection of medical records.
In addition to these key responsibilities, the Medical Records Officer will perform administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, collecting post, and completing ad-hoc duties as required by the Medical Records Department.
- Lifting and moving of patient charts and files.
- Filing of patients' charts in numerical order within the department.
- Tracking of all charts leaving the department.
- Maintenance of organized and tidy rows with evenly spaced files.
- Ordering older charts from an external storage facility.
- Verification of accurate chart labelling and color coordination.
- Ensuring the security and integrity of all medical records.
- Completion of clerical duties including phone answering and email response.
- Collection of mail and packages.
- Performance of additional duties as needed by the Medical Records Department.
