Head of Business Development - Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare (Permanent - Hybrid) – Europe. Location: Europe. The role is primarily remote with regular travel across Europe to foster and maintain client relationships. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter responsible for developing enterprise business opportunities and building long-term partnerships with pharmaceutical clients, supported by a high-performing sales and marketing team.
The RoleOpenSky Data Systems is seeking a seasoned Head of Business Development to drive strategic relationships and growth within the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare sectors across Ireland and Europe. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds related to Pharma, including professional services sales, patient advocacy, market access, medical affairs, healthcare policy, or related roles. The role involves regular travel (approximately monthly) and collaboration with OpenSky expert consultants in Digital & Cloud Automation, Application Modernisation, and AI services.
Key responsibilities include developing enterprise opportunities and partnerships, leading negotiations for contracts, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver value to pharmaceutical clients.
Key Responsibilities- Lead business development efforts with pharmaceutical companies, building strategic relationships across Patient Access, Medical Affairs, Health Outcomes, Commercial Excellence, Marketing, and Policy teams.
- Cultivate existing pharmaceutical and healthcare client relationships while identifying new opportunities and expanding OpenSky's client base in these industries.
- Identify, initiate, and develop new strategic relationships and market directions to extend OpenSky's reach within Pharma beyond existing clients.
- Lead negotiations for contracts covering consulting services, fixed-price development, and managed services agreements.
- Collaborate with OpenSky's expert consultants in areas such as Digital & Cloud Automation, Application Modernisation, and AI-driven solutions tailored to pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
- Assist in developing and executing strategic marketing campaigns and events to showcase OpenSky's solutions for Pharma & Healthcare challenges.
- Coordinate with the Tender Bid team to create compelling proposals and tender responses based on client engagements.
- Travel throughout Ireland and Europe to cultivate client relationships is a key requirement.
- Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in roles focused on pharmaceutical and healthcare markets (e.g., professional services sales, Pharma sales, patient advocacy, market access, medical affairs, health policy, or commercial excellence).
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with senior executives in the Pharmaceutical & Healthcare sectors.
- Track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets in a competitive environment.
- Constructive sales approach grounded in transparency and trust.
- Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry's regulatory, operational, and digital transformation challenges and opportunities.
- High-level understanding of digital technologies in healthcare (analytics dashboards, AI-driven patient engagement) is beneficial; detailed technical knowledge not required.
- Ability to articulate OpenSky's success stories and translate technical solutions into business value for clients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Technical teams to deliver value to clients.
- Ability to maximize the quality and flow of information from customers to support sales and tender processes.
- Must be an EU passport holder.
- Willingness to travel to meet pharmaceutical clients across Ireland and Europe.
