Ecological Consultant Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Ecological Consultant to join our team. As an Ecological Consultant, you will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality ecological consultancy services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee individual contracts to ensure the timely and effective delivery of ecological consultancy services.
  • Provide specialist ecological input across various projects, including coastal, freshwater, marine, and terrestrial ecology.
  • Plan, conduct, and supervise ecological surveys and fieldwork activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Prepare and implement Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), ensuring that environmental impacts are minimized and mitigation measures are effectively implemented.
  • Lead the preparation of Appropriate Assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Biodiversity Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), and other environmental reporting requirements.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports and project deliverables, showcasing your expertise and analytical skills.
  • Ensure quality control across all project outputs, focusing on detail, accuracy, timely delivery, and continuous improvement within the Ecology Team.
  • Act as an expert witness at Oral Hearings when required, providing authoritative and impartial testimony.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, participating in client and design team meetings as necessary.

Requirements:

  • A degree in ecology or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years' post-graduate experience in environmental consultancy.
  • Membership of CIEEM, CIWEM, or a comparable professional body.
  • Proven experience serving as an expert witness and participating in oral hearings.
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation.
  • Strong technical report writing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and overseeing the implementation of CEMPs.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
