As a senior ecologist, you will play a crucial role in our team, working on diverse projects within renewable energy, circular economy, environment, and sustainable infrastructure sectors. This exciting opportunity suits candidates with a minimum of five years of experience.
Key Responsibilities- Manage individual contracts to deliver high-quality ecological consultancy services by conducting thorough assessments and implementing effective solutions.
- Provide expert ecological input for various projects by analyzing data, identifying potential risks, and developing strategies to mitigate them.
- Plan, conduct, and supervise site ecological surveys and fieldwork to ensure accurate results and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and monitor Construction Environmental Management Plans to minimize environmental impacts and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Undertake Appropriate Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Biodiversity Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), and other environmental reporting requirements to provide valuable insights for stakeholders.
- Write technical reports and other deliverables that meet the highest standards of quality and clarity.
- Manage quality, including attention to detail and accuracy, delivery of contracts on time, and strive to improve the quality of work produced by the Ecology Team through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide expert witness at Oral Hearings, presenting findings and recommendations in a clear and convincing manner.
- Develop excellent relationships with clients, understanding their needs and expectations, and attending meetings as necessary to build trust and cooperation.
- Degree in ecology or a related subject, such as biology, environmental science, or conservation biology.
- A minimum of five years postgraduate experience, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality ecological consultancy services.
- Consultancy experience is desirable, particularly in the areas of renewable energy, circular economy, environment, and sustainable infrastructure.
- Member of CIEEM, CIWEM, or equivalent professional body, demonstrating commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
- Detailed knowledge of wildlife and conservation legislation in Ireland, including EU directives and national regulations.
- Excellent technical report writing skills, able to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience in preparing Appropriate Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments, as well as other environmental reporting requirements.
- Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams, collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and project management skills, able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
