Job Overview

The Operations and Asset Management Office plays a pivotal role in delivering our core function - the operation, development, and enhancement of the power system and the wholesale electricity market.

Main Responsibilities
  • Execute core activities as Transmission System Operator (TSO) for Ireland
  • Maintain grid stability through meticulous planning and engineering analysis such as load flow studies
  • Develop, test, and incorporate operational systems, tools, system services, standards, and operational policies required to operate the power system
  • Manage planned and unplanned outages, voltage control, generator testing, scheduling, and dispatch
  • Respond to alarms and constraints to ensure the grid remains within operational security standards
System Integrity Function
  • E nsure the operational planning, revenue metering, and protection of the power system
  • Develop annual and multi-year Transmission Outage Planning (TOP) and Generation Outage Planning (GOP)
  • Assess the viability of requested outages and integrate these outages into programmes
System Support and Analysis Function
  • Facilitate the end-to-end operational life cycle of grid connections
  • Manage the associated Tariffs, Imperfections, and Derogations processes
  • Ensure Grid Code compliance for all new connections to the grid
Interconnection Function
  • Manage EirGrid's interconnectors and operational readiness activities associated with connecting new HVDC interconnectors and marine assets
  • Participate in working groups with GB and EU stakeholders on topics centred on cross-border market issues
Operations Development and Compliance Function
  • Responsible for programme delivery for COAMO, integrating change to support delivery of our strategy
  • Manage and integrate changes to the Grid Code, Market Codes, and arising from operational European Network Codes
