Speech and Language Therapist Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of autistic children and their families by delivering clinical services, including training, teacher training, and one-to-one support for families accessing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) support programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive clinical services that meet the needs of families accessing AAC support programmes, including training and education on effective communication strategies.
  • Review applications for high-tech AAC devices to ensure all requirements have been met, and provide timely feedback to applicants.
  • Engage in and lead clinical work guided by evidence-based practice, staying up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field.
  • Communicate effectively with families to explain the AAC programme, provide guidance throughout the application process, and follow up to ensure timely progression from application to approval and device delivery.
  • Develop and communicate innovative ideas for improving clinical services and AAC support programmes.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of client progress and programme outcomes.
  • Collaborate with team members to leverage knowledge and strengths, and contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Participate actively in staff supervision processes, and carry out administrative duties as required, including report writing and developing therapy resources.
