Job Title

A Speech and Language Therapist is required to provide clinical services, including developing and delivering training, teacher training, and one-to-one support for families accessing an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) support programme.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years post-graduate clinical Speech and Language Therapy experience, with clinical experience in working with high-tech communication devices highly desirable. The successful candidate will be able to communicate in a sensitive and professional manner with autistic individuals and families, and will also have the ability to provide both informal and formal training on AAC and communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver clinical services, such as developing and delivering training, teacher training, and other one-to-one support for families accessing the AAC support programme
  • Review all applicants for high-tech AAC, ensuring that all requirements have been met
  • Engage in and lead clinical work that is guided by evidence-based practice
  • Communicate with families to explain the AAC programme, provide guidance throughout the application process, and proactively follow up to ensure timely progression from application to approval and device delivery
  • Develop and communicate ideas for innovation and improvement
  • Ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation
  • Work collaboratively, with all members of the team, leveraging the knowledge and strengths of others
  • Actively participate in the staff supervision processes
  • Carry out administrative duties, such as progress notes, report writing, and developing therapy resources to support the use of AAC devices
Key Requirements:
  • Speech and Language Therapy degree or postgraduate qualification
  • CORU registration
  • Minimum 2-3 years post-graduate clinical Speech and Language Therapy Experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience with high tech AAC
