Job Summary

BHFS seeks an experienced Legal and Regulatory Counsel with a deep understanding of payments and financial services regulation to develop, launch, and enable a world-class payments operation. This role will report to the Legal Director and be instrumental in advising on legal matters related to payments and financial services regulation.

The selected candidate will have the chance to witness the investment in digital technology that helps take the friction out of travel and paying for travel. As you do so, you will advise on a range of legal matters impacting BHFS and other brands within the Booking Holdings Group.

  • Act as a critical partner and trusted advisor to ensure compliance with applicable financial services law and regulation and best practices (PSD2, EMD2, AML/CTF, consumer protection).
  • Draft, review, and negotiate third-party contracts, taking into consideration Outsourcing and DORA requirements.
  • Provide practical and actionable legal advice on regulated products and services, exercising legal judgment and commercial acumen in assessing and mitigating legal and regulatory risks.

Key responsibilities include working closely with legal advisers at other BKNG brands to coordinate legal support across different specialisms and areas, coordinating with outside counsel, and providing legal support for corporate governance matters.

Strong academic credentials and 5-8 years of experience in a similar role are preferred. Excellent knowledge and demonstrable experience of compliance with Payments and Financial Services law, regulation, and best practice in the EEA are required. Experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on customer-facing contracts is also essential.
