We are currently seeking Laboratory Assistants to join our team in Galway, Ireland.

About the Role
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic laboratory environment where you will be responsible for performing various tasks related to sample preparation and analysis.
  • You will work closely with our experienced laboratory team to ensure high-quality results and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
  1. FOLLOW SAFETY RULES AND PRACTICES AT ALL TIMES.
  2. Wear protective equipment specified for each task.
  3. Advise Supervisor if you see anything suspicious or potentially hazardous or if you see possibilities for improvement.
  4. Perform work as per assignment given by the Laboratory Manager or other supervisor. Report completion of the work.
  5. Follow written methods and procedures when carrying out work. When written instructions are not available follow oral instructions given by the Laboratory Manager or other Supervisor.
  6. Check and maintain order of the samples being processed and samples identification. Report any deviations to the Laboratory Manager or other Supervisor.
  7. Handle the samples to preserve their identification and prevent loss, contamination or confusion. Report any accidents to the Laboratory Manager or other Supervisor.
  8. Monitor quality of work, note anomalies (e.g., reactive samples, boil overs, incomplete dissolution). Report as necessary.
  9. Fill in appropriate forms and worksheets and sign/initial records.
  10. Operate equipment according to instructions/manuals and follow safety rules at all times. If applicable, check calibration status daily or before use. Report anomalies/deviations. Do not use equipment that is out of order. Perform routine maintenance as per manuals. Keep the workplace clean and prepare for the next use.
  11. Suggest possible method or operation improvements to the Laboratory Manager or Quality Manager.
  12. Complete all required records as per ISO 17025, INAB requirements and the laboratory's quality management system.
What You Need to Succeed
  • No prior laboratory experience is required as full training is provided, however previous laboratory experience is desirable.
  • Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
