Industrial Maintenance Specialist

The primary responsibility of the Industrial Maintenance Technician is to ensure the smooth operation of plant equipment. This involves performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting malfunctions, and carrying out repairs as needed.

As an entry-level role, this position provides foundational training in industrial mechanical maintenance, preparing individuals to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to advance toward a Journeyman level proficiency.

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic works closely with other departments to achieve production goals while maintaining high levels of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Troubleshooting equipment issues and performing repairs using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
• Conducting regular inspections of plant machinery and equipment to identify potential problems before they occur.
• Developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and reduce the risk of equipment failure.
• Collaborating with senior technicians and supervisors to resolve complex technical issues.

Required qualifications for this position include:

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years relevant work experience installing and maintaining mechanical equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
• Ability to pass a qualifying test demonstrating foundational skills and knowledge within the craft.
• Ability to achieve and maintain journeyman status in machinery repair craft trade expertise and maintenance services.

• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and solve mechanical problems from experience and knowledge of the equipment as well as knowledge of what resources are available for troubleshooting and where to get them.
• Proficiency in the use of maintenance crafts equipment and tools and material handling equipment.
• Knowledge and application of safety, environmental, maintenance and quality guidelines, standards, codes, and procedures.
• Ability to effectively utilize computers and supporting business system software.
• Valid drivers license required to drive a plant transport vehicle.
• Ability to work heights and in enclosed spaces.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, with or without accommodation.
• Must have satisfactory work record.
• Degree or Certification in Mechanic and/or Machinist craft.
• General knowledge of chemicals and their general properties.
• Ability to train and guide other employees in the assigned areas.
• Prior experience in manufacturing environments.
