The HSE has established six health regions within Ireland, based on geographical boundaries agreed by the government in 2019. Each health region will be responsible for planning, resourcing, and delivering healthcare services to its specific population.

Health regions aim to provide integrated, locally planned, and delivered care that is easier to access and navigate. They will enable staff to provide services closer to home, aligning community and hospital services within specific areas.

The HSE South West Health Region manages and delivers all public health and social care services in Cork and Kerry. It includes hospital and community healthcare services, as well as primary care services.

The region's goal is to improve accountability and governance while bringing decision-making closer to the frontline.

Mallow General Hospital is a Model 2 Hospital with 71 inpatient beds, providing inpatient, outpatient, and day patient services. The hospital offers general medicine, cardiology, respiratory, gerontology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, ENT, and urology services.

The catering department provides meals to patients, staff, and visitors in a 48-seat canteen. Their goal is to meet the requirements set out in the National Food, Nutrition, and Hydration Policy for Adult Patients 2018 and food safety legislation.

Purpose of Post: To assist with meal preparation, cooking, and serving daily for patients, staff, and visitors at Mallow General Hospital.
