Job Overview

This role is a fantastic opportunity to work in social care, supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. As a Social Care Worker, you will be responsible for providing person-centered support and promoting the wellbeing of residents.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of current national and sectoral policy developments in social care within disability services. They will also possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, as well as proficiency in IT software such as Microsoft Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advocacy & Rights: Uphold the rights of individuals, facilitate choice and decision-making, and promote self-advocacy and community participation.
  • Person Centred Support for Living: Ensure a person-centered approach to service delivery, support individuals with person-centered plans, and develop training and leisure activities.
  • Act as a Key Worker for specific individuals, lead in developing and implementing person-centered plans, and coordinate medical appointments.
  • Facilitate and encourage participation in recreational and leisure activities, liaise with relevant workshops, and contribute to social and recreational activities.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Hold a minimum of Level 7 on the QQI Framework - BA in Social Care Studies or equivalent qualification in Health or Social Care.
  • CORU registration or provide proof that the application is in progress.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • Understanding of current national and sectoral policy developments in social care within disability services.
  • Ability to follow, evaluate, and contribute to plans and methods to meet ongoing needs; strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office).
