Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Lighting Artist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing proficiency in lighting techniques, composition, and mood-setting.


Main Responsibilities

The Lighting Artist will be responsible for crafting immersive lighting environments using tools and techniques to create realistic or stylised lighting setups that suit the game's narrative and mood. They will also enhance visual atmosphere and ambiance by manipulating light sources, shadows, and colour to evoke specific emotions or convey particular atmospheres within the world.

In this role, the Lighting Artist will:

  • Crafting immersive lighting environments that make players feel like they've stepped into another world.
  • Enhancing visual atmosphere and ambiance by manipulating light sources, shadows, and color.
  • Evoking emotions and guiding player focus through lighting techniques.
  • Collaborating with art and design teams to ensure that the lighting aligns with the overall artistic vision and objectives of the project.
  • Ensuring consistency and quality across lighting in different game levels or scenes.
  • Experimenting with lighting effects to create visually striking and innovative gameplay experiences.
  • Optimizing lighting performance for various hardware configurations.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in lighting art roles for gaming projects (experience with FPS games preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Computer Animation, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to create visually stunning lighting environments in games.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with art, design, and engineering teams.
  • Passion for gaming with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of how lighting contributes to gameplay immersion.
  • Familiarity with current trends in lighting technology and a willingness to experiment with new techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
