Family Support Worker Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and caring Family Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our family support service, you will provide in-home and community-based support to children with additional needs and their families.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Family Support & Respite Coordinator to prioritize families and agree on the type and level of support to be provided. You will be required to work during evenings and weekends to provide a flexible family support service.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing emotional support and practical assistance to children with additional needs and their families.
  2. Working with families to identify their needs and develop personalized plans to meet those needs.
  3. Collaborating with other professionals, such as healthcare workers and social workers, to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting children and families.
  4. Maintaining accurate records and reporting progress to the Family Support & Respite Coordinator.

In order to succeed in this role, you will need to have:

  • A minimum QQI Level 5 Childcare course or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of working with children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A full clean driving license with no restrictions.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
