Job Description

As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in creating a personalized learning environment for our students. This position involves working with students and/or parents to determine and evaluate the student's academic plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure seamless integration of special education services into the overall curriculum.

This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and abilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education.
  • English Language and Autism Authorizations are also required.
  • Prior experience working with exceptional learners is strongly recommended.

This position reports to the Principal or designee and is responsible for managing a student's behavior, demonstrating competency in all subject areas, and participating in the identification of students with possible disabilities post-intervention phase.

Responsibilities include providing direct student instruction, conducting academic assessments, scheduling and chairing IEP meetings, meeting special education timeline requirements, collaborating with general education teachers, and maintaining documentation of communications with students, families, and other service providers.
